Dr. van de Leur is a specialist in total joint replacement and reconstructive procedures. He completed his residency training at the University of Alberta’s Orthopaedic Surgery program, and his Joint Reconstructive Fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University’s Rothman Institute in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  Dr. van de Leur has practiced with Fort Wayne Orthopaedics since 2009. His expertise is in primary and revision hip and knee replacement.  Thanks to Dr. Van de Leur, patients who have osteoarthritis in the hip and want to return to an active lifestyle now have access to a proven alternative to total hip replacement surgery.  Dr. Van de Leur is the first surgeon in Fort Wayne to perform the Birmingham Hip Resurfacing procedure, a technique that conserves bone, and provides greater stability and increases range of motion and a quicker recovery time than total hip replacement.  In addition to hip resurfacing, Dr. van de Leur offers patients the Direct Anterior Approach to total Hip Arthroplasty

Click here to see a brief animation of the Birmingham Hip Resurfacing System, an innovative alternative to full hip replacement that’s only available at the Orthopaedic Hospital of Lutheran Health Network.
